Does anyone know what the current status/outcome of this is? My relatives lived nearby and I’m curious to know what happened. Thank you.
Hiya, nothing has happened since the Council rejected the application, and the deadline for Scottish Coal to appeal the decision has expired. It is possible that Scottish Coal will submit another application, or that local planning policy will be eventually re-written to make the application acceptable, but nothing of the sort has happened yet.
That is too bad that nothing hashappened yet. Government works at their own pace. And it is always too slow. No sense of urgency or how their their action (or non-action) affects the public at large.
I’m very glad that they didn’t succeed with the open cast coal mine in Midlothian. I live in Edinburgh and would hate to see it here. My uncle in Adrosson, Ayrshire is quite involved with preventing the new coal plant at Hunterston. So hopefully that will be prevented from happening as well.
